Abstract : Would you like to experience research in Japan and become part of an international collaboration in spintronics?
In this seminar, I will introduce the Japan–France ASPIRE Q-Spintronics Project, an international program that brings together researchers and students from leading laboratories in Japan and France. Our goal is not only to explore new frontiers of spintronics, but also to create opportunities for young researchers to cross borders, learn new experimental techniques, and develop their own international research networks.
I will first give an accessible introduction to some of the science we are exploring—from spin and orbital angular momentum transport to interactions between magnons and phonons. These rapidly developing areas raise fundamental questions about how angular momentum and information can be generated, transported, and controlled in nanoscale materials and devices.
I will then introduce the participating Japanese laboratories at Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, Osaka University, and JAEA, highlighting the different research environments and experimental techniques available at each location. Students may have opportunities to participate in nanofabrication, electrical transport, magneto-optical measurements, synchrotron experiments, high-frequency measurements, and studies of magnetization dynamics.
Finally, I will explain how Master’s and PhD students, as well as young researchers, can visit Japan for internships or research stays through the ASPIRE collaboration, including possible research topics and financial support. Whether you already work in spintronics or are simply curious about doing research in Japan, this seminar will provide an introduction to the scientific and international opportunities offered by Q-Spintronics.
