Recruiting consultant in crystal growth by liquid phase epitaxy
Context: In 2025, the spin-insulatronics team of SPINTEC was awarded an exploratory grant from the PEPR SPIN program to develop new types of ultra-high-fidelity optomechanical modulators operating at frequencies in the GHz range and incorporating ferrimagnetic materials into optical components. The project is named MAGISTRAL for MAGnetic dISks as TRansducer of AnguLar momentum. It began on March 1, 2025, and will run for four years.
To achieve our goals, we need to gain access to magnetic thin films with very low magnetic and acoustic losses. The material of choice in this context are single-crystals of yttrium iron garnet (YIG) thin films on gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) substrates via liquid-phase epitaxy (LPE). These materials currently achieves the lowest known losses.
Position: To assist the Grenoble team in mastering this growth method, we are seeking the assistance of experts in liquid-phase epitaxy (LPE), particularly regarding garnets. This request will take the form of a sub-contracting mission.
For more information on the practical terms, please follow the web link. The document also details the procedures for submitting an application. Applications must be submitted by email to Olivier KLEIN (SPINTEC) by April 30, 2026 (included).
